A local recommend this place and it was very good. Small cafe that serves breakfast and lunch. I had coffee and breakfast burritos with potatoes. All very good. My mom had a berry bar that she enjoyed. We also had a sandwich, fruit and delicious cookie for lunch the previous day. The salad options and other baked goods looked delicious too. Gem of a place without having to go downtown.
I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon with some work to do. I was impressed. I ordered a salmon eggs benedict and a chai. You order and pay, then are given a number and your items are brought out to you. Both of the items I ordered were served excellently and had great flavor. The ambiance of the place was also great- multiple two/four seaters plus a large community table. Nearly every patron seemed to know each other. The service was friendly and helpful. It looks a little unassuming from the outside, but I highly recommend this place if you're in the area!
In Victoria for a family visit, we looked for some place close for morning coffee and breakfast. Urban Cup fit the bill, both for dine in and take out. A very popular place with the locals, it could be tough to get a table after 8:00 AM weekdays. Also a good place for a quick lunch.
Came here for buffet. Recommended to us by a friend that said it was really good........first of all we came in and wasn't seated or served drinks. This was a total do it yourself buffett. No tea brought to the table. Food that was left in the chaffing dishes was very little and hard. Dim sum was limited to rice and a leaf with no flavor. Had to ask for won ton and when it was brought out it was plain no flavor again. Plus no signage for any of the food so it was a choice of sweet and sour mystery meat . Won't be back. Lucky village over in Admirals is way better plus the staff are more interactive and present.
I've seen this place hundreds of times as I've driven in and out of Vic. My wife and I generally don't go to buffets but there were a lot of people inside so we figured we'd give it a whirl. If you have the same inclination I have one word for you. Don't.The people inside were all Asian tourists that a tour bus had dropped off there for their 'lunch included' meal. There was only one other table with paying patrons other than us.Where do I begin? There were no bowls available for soup. The cutlery was dirty. Half of the hot table items were empty. Virtually every item is fried. The 'mixed vegetables' was onions and cabbage. There was ice cream but no bowls to put it in and no teaspoons to eat it with (I scooped some into a coffee cup and ate it with a soup spoon). While seating us the hostess was screaming at another staff member. After being seated we asked for water and got a tepid, dirty glass of tap water. We never saw a waitress or server after being seated. When we complained that half the dishes were missing we were told to wait - there would be more eventually (we'd been there 40 minutes already and with no other customers I doubt there was food coming). This is the worst restaurant I've been to in Victoria - possibly anywhere in North America. About the only good thing I could say is that there was ample parking.
