Had a lunch-time meeting scheduled here. Otherwise, I would never have noticed JJ's. It is in a small plaza and is hidden from a street view. There is a sign at the curb, but it is overpowered by another (Chinese) restaurant, and easy to miss. There were 7 of us. We had a reservation. We entered and were immediately greeted and seated by a collegial hostess. It was in a small alcove that sheltered us from the excessive noise of a basically full dining room. The tables were covered with fabric table cloths gleaming white. The plates and bowls were well-constructed in a white oriental style. Menus already awaited us. Water came immediately and, because we were ready to order, the orders went in at once. Most of us had meals that came with the soup of the day or a green salad, which came up within a few minutes. My salad was very attractively presented, and included shrimp and avocado on greens with a creamy (and delicious) dressing. Within a few moments of the salad's completion, our main dishes arrived. I had ordered the crab meat fried rice sautéed with garlic, lemon grass, egg, carrots, beans, and green onions ($13.50). It was a huge mound in a white stoneware bowl. And it was extremely tasty. I wasn't sure that I would be able to finish it, but it was so delicious that I ate the whole thing! Those with me seemed equally pleased with their meals. In fact, one member of our group ate not only all of his meal, but ate a good portion of his wife's when she was unable to finish it all. No one wanted dessert; all were too stuffed. A great meal! Wonderful variety of choices to suit all palates. I can recommend it whether you run to spicy or bland food.
