I discovered this place when I went to Kantor to trade in some of my foreign cash. After finishing with Kantor, I walked around the plaza and saw the Arkady Bistro Cafe. It was packed with people which is always a good sign. I went in and looked at their hot table and saw all their authentic Polish food, with lots of choices. I had the bass with potato dumplings and 2 salads (coleslaw and Caesar). All the hot meals have a starch side and two salad sides. The portions are very generous, and the food was good. I had to ask for a box to take home the leftovers. You can get the meals as takeout but the restaurant is nicely set up with comfortable tables and chairs and nice decor. The Polish always like things to be nice! There were obviously friends there that had gone for a coffee or a quick meal.
the grills here are so delicious, juicy and delicate, plus the live music, everything is perfect. it's one of my favorite restaurants. chicken wings and bier broken twill rings are two of my two favorite dishes here. I was not disappointed that they have no Thai curry sauce in the menu for chicken wings, not sure it is only available in the usa. the employees are nice and helpful. I don't drink, so I just tried so that and young woman drinks that are all normal.

You can find simple and unconventional variations of dosas at this joint. The weekends are busy so make sure you have a reservation. They prefer you leave as soon as your done eating so they can give your table to someone else so it you're looking for chilling for a bit after your food, avoid this place on the weekends. The filter coffee is really good too.
The food is great. The atmosphere is very comfortable. The service is excellent. In my opinion, it is one of the best restaurants in the Toronto area. The incredible thing is that it has been so for at least 3 decades. Almost all other restaurants of its vintage and status either no longer exist or have simply plummeted in quality. Tonight I had the French onion soup which is simply better than any other Toronto restaurant I have had it in. I ordered the smallest fillet mignon which was more than enough for me (6oz) and really fresh and very well cooked. My wife had the seafood linguini which she liked but could not come close to finishing. The portions are very generous here.
