What a wonderful restaurant! Great staff, great service, AMAZING food, not to mention seasonal, ethical and healthy! Great ambiance, romantic and warm. We stumbled in for lunch one day and had the mussels and the veggie pulpettes - which are amazing! Greaat coffee too. We loved it so much that we reserved it for our anniversary dinner a few nights later. They gave us the best table in the house, (on the balcony next to the open window.) We had the ceviche, you the fish, the black pudding and mussels and the dessert of the day! Everything was so good, including the wine and homemade kambucha! A must visit in Quebec City - make a reservation though, it's understandably busy!

wow loved it! we were in quebec city a few days before a cruise to boston. one evening we walk through chez rioux pettigrew and it looked so quant. we have made a reservation for the next night. fortunately, we could sit on a window seat and the weather was amazing so that the windows were opened. so cool. we ordered a bottle of wine and then ordered the 5 curs chef’s tasting menu. we had no idea what to expect. the courses began to come and we were not disappointed. our server knew about each cursor and explained what they were perfect as everyone was delivered. we were very satisfied with our entire experience in chez rioux pettigrew and would come back when we are in quebec city.

Nice dinner, super sweet interior, first class service! We arrived about 20 minutes early and our table was not ready, so we sat on some unmatched couches at the entrance to exactly 9 a.m. It seems to be several dining areas, and I was delighted when the host went through the kitchen to a wonderful group of people who offered us all a bona fide soir) to a room on the back. The cozy, comfortable feeling of the room was emphasized by unmatched chairs and tables, glasses and cutlery and soft lighting. We had the Xmas Preset menu $95CAD) and did not choose the additional bubbles and oysters or wine tasting. The food itself was very playful and delicious in a surprising way! My favorite was the shells that were covered in a snow of cheese, but the Skallops and Leeks court and the Guinea Fowl court were definitely up there. The dessert plate was also light and beautiful, not too sweet. It was worth a splurge to celebrate our visit, and I would recommend visiting others, but note that our reservation began at 9 a.m. and we were there for about 3 hours.

First time visiting this lovely city, made reservations for this 5 star restaurant, and it did not disappoint! We were a party of two and did the surprise tasting menu which consisted of 5 dishes I believe. The main meat dish was venison, and it was so flavourful, so tender, it melted in my mouth, the sauce that was with it paired so perfectly. Every dish was fantastic and so was the presentation. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, the seating, the decor, the ambiance was perfect. Will definitely eat here again in the future.

Cute little place with great food! Everything looked pretty and tasted even better! Only thing we didn’t care for were the desserts. Not sure if it was because the food was so good we had high expectations for the dessert too? Reservations required as it was packed.

Aug 30, 2021: My wife, daughter and I arrived for our 8:30pm reservation and seated along with two other groups who reserved at the same time. Our waiter was friendly, personable, and passionate about the food being served. To say the food here was delicious is an understatement. We ordered 9 of 12 dishes from their seasonal menu and everything was excellent!! The chef and his team know their flavours and how to coax the best from all the local ingredients they use in every dish. Each course was well-thought out-prepared and layered with complex flavours. It’s rare that you find a place where every dish is both unique and tasty. The two other tables seated at the same time, were also in agreement. A foodie from Toronto said…” the food in Toronto is not as good as this!” I said, …” unfortunately I will have to agree with you… the food in Vancouver is not as good as this (generally speaking). My wife and daughter who are not octopus nor beef tartar eaters, they loved those dishes- a surprise for me. I said I would come back tomorrow to order several dishes all over again, if only they were open for lunch! As I write this, I would easily reorder the: scallops n smoked clams tartar, octopus, amazing homemade pasta with perfect poached egg and carmalized goat cheese, and their smoky layered black pudding, although every dish we had was good. The tasting dishes are still very substantial and certainly worth more than what one is paying here compared to other fine dining places I think they need to charge more for the time, energy, and detail that goes into every dish! One needs to make a reservation , the waiter said they turned away so many requests that day because they are a small restaurant. We loved the rustic laid back decor and the non-nouvelle -pretenciousness of other places without true substance nor the heart. of Chez Rioux Pettigrew. I give CRP a big satisfying recommend, we will return again, from Vancouver

Tldr: over all pretty nice. Food was pretty good! Tried the bison, scallop, black puddings and the oyster. Bison was very good, really flavourful. The side bits with some bacon and other vegetables tastes really good. Black puddings was their speciality, but personally I didn't find it to be that good. Scallop was not as I expected. The clams came with it was pretty dry and I don't think it fits the fish. Oyster was great, really opens up your appetite! Desert was awesome! Didnt expect it to be that flavourful. Pretty popular spot so make sure you make your reservation early! The spot was packed and you need to provide your vaccine proof so make sure you have it. Service is really nice!
