Grew up in NDG going to Chalet and dropped by on a recent visit. I was not disappointed as it tasted as good as I remember it!
Chalet Bar-B-Q is still as delish as it was in the 80's when I first went.When I worked at the Queen E Hospital until it closed we would go for lunch and return to work smacking our lips and rubbing our tummies!I returned with a "newbie" recently and there is now one more Chalet-lover on the planet.The place's decor hasn't changed, the waitresses are still hard-working older women serving their specialty with a smile and kind friendly words!Stop in for lunch or supper. You won't be disappointed!Terrific chicken, yummy fries and lots of sauce to drown it all in!! Yummmy!
For years this place is a MTL Land mark. Been there since my mom was a kid in the 40 & 50 think the waitresses are the same. Best food. JUST CHICKEN service always great. Parking a pain as always but worth it.

Great chicken , slow roasted over charcoal.Fresh cut fries (a lot of them), 2 cups of gravy, toasted bread, your choice of coleslaw or soup for around $ 12.00Can't beat thatYou don't go there for the decor, it hasn't changed since the opening.But the food, is really the main attraction.
It was my first time there and I was amazed with their quality of food and their atmosphere. This is an old chicken BBQ and serve ONLY chicken. Everything seems to be homemade and they serve classic Canadian chicken BBQ but with the best quality. What is amazing is the fact that they didn't change the decoration and their style scince the creation of the resturent in 1944. An important portion of emplyees and waitress are seasoned and are working there for years and years and this, add to the charm of the resto.. Will back again...
For some reason this restaurant represents what fair values used to be... in the end this is above average rotisserie chicken, with fair prices and good service... makes go back in time....
Same deco, same food/recipe, same services since ever! Le Chalet BBQ is a classic of Montreal's restaurants since 50's! It is an experience! Probably not the best chicken ever but worth the try!
