My cake was pretty stale and we had to wait a while for our table. Even with the reservation.
Grabbed lunch here and the food was good but not anything to rave aboutThe restaurant itself is tiny and very hmm vintage.
This was a nice stop after wandering around the market area looking for a place to eat.
I went to this restaurant with a friend for brunch and was unimpressed I ordered a cappuccino and eggs Benedict.
The Black Thorn is closed while the National Capital Commission erects a new building at 7 Clarence Street. The popular Brunch menu is now available at the Earl of Sussex (same owner) on Sussex and Murray Street.
I enjoyed coming to the thorn after work. Decent beer and friendly staff. Sadly, it is closed. Another victim to Ottawa's emerging culinary scene.
We stopped in for lunch one afternoon and were promptly seated i back in the lovely and shaded courtyard. We asked for two iced teas but they didn't have that, however the server suggested hot tea with large glasses of ice. Ok, it worked for us.We then ordered the Peppercorn Steak pizza and it was delicious. Cremini mushrooms, marinated steak, sauce, cheese and a peppercorn sauce drizzled over the top. The sauce really made this pizza special. It was delicious. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable.
We came here for breakfast... we were just us... it was empty... I really liked the name of this restaurant and the decoration... we order some food i can't really recall what it was... i think it easy pancakes ... my best friend has an allergy and we told the waiter that , so not to use anything that has nuts ... and they brought her her plate and it had nuts...LOLas if we told them... Yeah we want to die over here..please help us...the food was mediocre.. nothing to die for... well... at least not if you don't have any allergies...
