I was staying across the street at the Fireside Inn and the desk clerk recommended this restaurant. Good food and drinks in a friendly atmosphere. Renae was my waitress and she did an excellent job of taking my order, bringing me a fresh beer, filling my water glass and smiling and chatting when she could. I asked for her advice and I really appreciated her listening and giving great advice. My morning plans have been altered because of her comments. The Cobb Salad was excellent and the toast was so good I wish there was four pieces of bread. The locals eat there and that is a good sign when you are looking for value and great service. Nice job, Renae.
This great sports bar is located adjacent to the Super 8 Motel and has a great selection of food as well as Happy Hour and drink specials...the staff are friendly and cater to your needs...watch the sports on various large screen tv's, play pool or if your in the modd try your luck at Keno, pull tabs or sit in the outdoor patio's (two)...
While staying in Castlegar for one night we had dinner at the Black Rooster. A nice cosy restaurant with friendly service. The food was good and tasty. Good pizza (a special with pulled pork), tasty pasta and a good chicken dish. My vegetarian daughter was also satisfied with her dish.So...a good place to stop!
Looking for a non-franchise-chain restaurant for lunch, my colleague and I stumbled upon the Black Rooster. From the outside, we knew this was the place for tasty, unique food and a pleasant pub atmosphere. The BR did not disappoint. On the inside, we were greeted by a relatively-posh interior and a friendly Hello from the barmaid around the corner. We grabbed a comfortable booth and enjoyed a great lunch and some good, Canadian beer. Friendliness flows as easy as the beer, here.
I wish that I could give this review a rating worse than 'Terrible'. This was by far the worst dining experience of my life. I'm 44 and travel a lot. We had a large reservation for 7:00, which I arrived early for, the night of a comedy event. I was the third of eleven to arrive. I had a seat and was not greeted by anyone. The rest of our party arrived and a half hour later our server came over to us. It was 7:25 at this point and we were all very hungry and in much need of a drink. My sister and brother-in-law were sitting beside me and placed their drink and dinner order as we'd had ample time to review menus. I was obviously ready to place my order next when she walked away. By the time she got to me she said that 'I was one of the late ones'. What?!? Anyways I placed my order and proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. All of us were waiting. There was chatter at another table that one of the couples had been served food and the other couple didn't get their food for another 1.5 hours. In the meantime my 19 year-old niece and her boyfriend had arrived. They just wanted to sit with us as they'd already eaten (lucky!). The waitress came by for another drink order and said that they would have to move downstairs as they were not eating. I explained that she was my niece and wanted someone to sit with, and our server said that if she didn't go downstairs, that she would throw her over the balcony. What?!? I just told my niece not to bother with her and we all sat and began to enjoy the comedy show. At 8:35, the server approached one of our party and had said that their was a mix-up in the kitchen and their wait staff had been serving our food orders. What?!? More comedy and at 9:30 I cancelled my dinner order. The server asks me what number I was? What?!? How should I know. At 9:50 my friends were finally served their cold dinners. Many of which were inedible. I understand that it was a busy night (not the first time a comedy show has been held at this venue) and that the Element put out an apology on their Facebook page. This was no excuse to have such poor service. What's worse is that I think our server was the manager/owner! Perhaps you're in the wrong business!
